The Founding Four
Loader, Normalizer, Spine, Trait Detection — the original axioms. · Nirmal · founder
What
Before Hermes. Before the ops stack. Before the Memory repo. Before December. Four pieces were built — and they are still the reason everything else exists.
The Loader was conceived as a universal intake membrane — a way to receive anything from anywhere without losing what it meant. The Normalizer was framed as a membrane, not a gateway: it does not gatekeep, it translates. The Spine was the first attempt to hold organizational memory in one place. Trait Detection and Resource Type Resolution made the Spine self-organising — the system learned the shape of what it received instead of being told.
These four did not evolve later. They were the core from August. Everything that came afterwards — Twin, MCP, Signal Engine, Operator — is built on top of these four. The fundamental claim was already present: the human cannot remain the integration layer.
Decisions
- Loader is a universal intake membrane — not an ETL pipeline.
- Normalizer is a membrane, not a gateway.
- Spine is the single organisational memory layer.
- Trait Detection makes the Spine self-organising.
Quotes
- These four did not evolve later. In fact these four are the core from August. — Nirmal, May 25
- The tools did not make the LLM powerful. The tools made the LLM blind.
Locked
- FOUNDING AXIOMS (August 2025, immutable): Loader — universal intake membrane. Normalizer — membrane, not gateway. Spine — single memory. Trait Detection — self-organising shape resolution.
- The two founding pains: (1) Tool fragmentation — humans became the integration layer. (2) Memory loss — every system forgot the moment a transaction committed.
